G&S Raceway strives to provide a Fun, Safe, and Inclusive racing environment for all racers. It is also our desire to ensure that the racing is competitive and as cost effective as possible to allow everyone to experience the thrill of competitive racing. In an effort to further these goals we have devised this set of standards to govern our 1RC Carpet Oval racing and Kyosho Mini-Z on-road racing.

These rules are a work in progress and subject to change as we learn more about the race environment and our racers.

It is our mission to provide a place to race for as many people as possible.

Please do not let adherence to any of these rules prevent you from reaching out to the staff at G&S Raceway if you have any concerns about being allowed to race. In many cases we will be able to work out a solution.

General Rules

  • All racers must always follow the general conduct rules of G&S Raceway. Violations of these rules could result in being asked to leave the premises.

  • No yelling at other racers, staff, visitors, or turn marshals. We are here to have fun, treat it that way.

  • Do not walk on the race surfaces unless specifically approved to do so by the G&S Staff.

  • Cars must be complete cars with all bodywork, faux engine, and driver figure (1RC).

  • No tire preparations / doping / softening. Tires may be washed with water only.

  • CA glue may be used on tires to prevent traction rolling. Must be dry before placing on track.

  • All cars will have a minimum and maximum weight (No battery Installed).

  • Must have stock wiring from ESC to Motor.

  • Regulators will need to be wired between the battery and the ESC.

  • All cars are subject to tech inspection at any given time.

  • All cars must have a transponder.

  • All cars must use the stock gear ratio unless otherwise stated.

  • All cars must use tires intended for the class unless otherwise stated (All tires)

  • The Stock designation for each class is intended to be a “box stock” class where possible. Any alterations to the original equipment design should be approved by the race director or G&S staff prior to racing. Approvals should be communicated to all racers.

  • Option parts may be used in modified classes.

  • Decisions by G&S Raceway Staff will supersede information found in any other rules package.

Turn Marshaling

Turn marshaling is an important part of the race program and must be performed safely. The purpose of a turn marshal is to help maintain a clear racecourse for each competitor. This is accomplished by assisting cars that need to be placed back on their wheels as well as removing broken or disabled vehicles. Please see the following general guidelines.

  • The top drivers (2 for 1RC and 3 for Mini-Z) from the previous race are required to turn marshal the next race. If cannot turn marshal for any reason, please let the race director know so a substitution can be found.

  • Stand only in the designated turn marshal locations. These locations are designated to not interfere with the driver’s vision of the track.

  • Please move as quickly as you can safely move. There is no reason to risk your safety to marshal a car.

  • Please do not walk on the racing surface if possible. Use the designated tools to marshal cars when appropriate.

  • Please do not jump over cars to avoid contact. This not only endangers your safety but can also result in damaging someone else’s car.

  • Stay focused on your assigned portion of the track. Watching the race is exciting, but it can distract you from helping a driver that is in distress.

  • When possible, please assist the cars in the order they became incapacitated. Be impartial.

  • When placing a car back on the track, do not place it in the path of oncoming traffic. Wait for the traffic to clear before setting the car down and ensure that is placed in the correct direction.

  • Do not use excessive force when placing cars on the track. Cars should be “set” on the track, not tossed or thrown.

  • Do not attempt to repair damaged cars while you are marshaling. This distracts you from watching your section of the track.

  • Marshals are not required to pick up wrecked vehicles and that are “on throttle”. If you wreck let off the throttle.

Tech Inspection

The Race director can request tech inspection of a car at any time. Compliance with a tech inspection request is required for entry into the next heat and/or race. Remediation of failed tech elements may be required.
